Abstract

ABSTRACK

Progressive muscle relaxation is a procedure and technique that aims to reduce tension and anxiety, by training the patient to be able to deliberately relax the muscles of the body at any time, as desired. This study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on reducing anxiety levels in the elderly with hypertension in the working area of ??the Lamasi Health Center in the district. The method in this study is experimental research with a quantitative approach, there is a form of experimental design used in this study is a quasi experimental design: one group pre test and post test design using the Paired Samples Test with the aim of knowing the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on reducing anxiety levels in the elderly with hypertension. The sample in this study was the entire population, namely 30 elderly people with hypertension. Sampling in this study was determined by total sampling. The results of this study obtained that progressive muscle relaxation therapy had an effect on reducing anxiety levels in the elderly with hypertension, p value (0.000) <0.05. This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It is expected that for the elderly with hypertension to make it a necessity for themselves because there are so many benefits of progressive muscle relaxation therapy to improve the quality of a healthy life
