Abstract

ABSTRACT

At the end of 2019, to be precise in December, the world was shocked by the outbreak of a new virus infection, namely Coronavirus. The spread of this virus is very fast and has spread throughout the world in less than half a year, so that on March 11, 2020, WHO declared the coronavirus novel (COVID-19) an extraordinary event and a global pandemic. Cases of increased incidence and premature death from this virus outbreak occur mainly in the elderly or the elderly category. Given the importance of knowledge and good attitudes in the elderly as a major factor in the spread of COVID-19, it is important to conduct research. The methodology in this research is to use a cross sectional study design by distributing and filling out questionnaire sheets. The sample in this study were all elderly people in Marannu , Mattirobulu District, Pinrang Regency and the sample was 74 respondents who had been rendomed. Results: univariate analysis showed poor knowledge of 41 respondents (55.4.6%), 44 respondents (59.5%) good attitude and 41 respondents (55.4%). between knowledge (p-value 0.000 (<0.05)) and attitude (p-value 0.004 (<0.05)) with COVID-19 prevention behavior. It can be concluded that knowledge and attitudes have a relationship with the behavior of preventing of COVID-19 in the elderly in Marannu, Mattirobulu District, Pinrang Regency.
