Abstract

A study about hepatoprotective effect of earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus) extract on male albino rat’s (Rattus novergicus) damage liver had been done. The aim of this study was to explore the hepatoprotective effect of earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus) extract on male albino rat’s (Rattus novergicus) on high doses of paracetamol 250mg/kg body weight. 18 rats were used and divided into 6 treatment groups. Group 2 was given I% NaCMC suspension, group II was given paracetamol suspension 250 mg/kg body weight, group III was given paracetamol suspension 250 mg/kg body weight and Methioson suspension. Groups IV, V and VI were given 0,5%, 1% and 2% earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus) extract suspension and paracetamol suspension 250 mg/kg body weight. The examination of hepatoprotectivebased on decreasing of SGPT_SGOT levels after earthworm extract administration. The result of this research showed that the 1% and 2% of extract had unsignificantly different hepatoprotective effect with positive control Mrthioson to rat’s damage liver caused by high doses of paracetamol.
