Factors That Influence Compliance with the Implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist in the Surgical Room at Mega Buana Hospital, Palopo City

Abstract

The issue of Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) compliance in the operating room is a major concern for health workers. There are several factors in implementing SSC in the operating room, namely knowledge, motivation, perception, supervision and discipline. The aim of this research is to determine factors related to compliance with the implementation of the Surgical Safety Checklist for Surgical Rooms at Mega Buana Hospital, Palopo City. This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all health workers who were involved in SSC compliance in the Mega Buana Hospital operating room. The number of samples used was 34 health worker/nurse respondents. The sampling technique used in this research was total sampling. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate with the statistical test being the Chi Square Test. The results of the research show that there is a relationship between knowledge factors and the application of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) (p value = 0.015), there is a relationship between motivation factors and the application of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) (p value = 0.001), there is a relationship between perception factors and application of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) (p value = 0.001), there is a relationship between supervision factors and the application of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) (p value = 0.001) and there is a relationship between disciplinary factors and the application of the Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) (p value = 0.005). It is hoped that the hospital will provide consideration to increase and improve the quality of service in the Operating Room for those who have not complied with the implementation of SSC
