Abstract

Research was conducted on the inhibitory power test of Kitolod Leaf (Laurentia longflora) ethanol extract on the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of kitolod (Laurentia longiflora) leaf extract using the plate method (agar diffusion), using Nutrient Agar (NA) medium against Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. First, the kitolod leaf sample was extracted using the meseration method for 5 days, the weight of the extract obtained was 2.1 grams. To test the inhibitory power of the extract obtained, 3 variations of concentration were made, namely 10%, 20% and 30% and amoxicillin as a positive control on Nutrient Agar (NA) medium which was incubated for 24 hours at 370C. The results of this test show that the ethanol extract of Kitolod leaves (Laurentialongflora) can inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa with the average diameter of the 10% concentration being 10 mm, the 20% concentration being 12.33 mm, the 30% concentration being 14.33 mm and the average diameter of the barrier being The largest average produced by the positive control (amoxicillin) was 20 mm. The results of statistical analysis using the Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) method followed by the Least Significant Difference (BNT) test and also the results of data analysis using SPSS version 22 showed a real difference in effect between the positive control amoxicillin and kitolod leaf extract with concentrations of 10%, 20% , 30%. Based on the results of this research, it was concluded that the ethanol extract of kitolod leaves (Laurentia longiflora) has antimicrobial inhibitory power against Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria but is not as effective as inhibiting amoxicillin (control +).
