THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE USE OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE GOUT IN POMGKO VILLAGE, DISTRICT NORTH WALENRANG

Traditional medicine has been known to the public for generations and is generally used as a preventive measure to maintain health and treat diseases because the side effects are relatively small, safe, practical and affordable. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. The aim of this research is to describe the use of traditional gout medicine in Pongko Village, North Walenrang District and identify the level of community knowledge about the use of Traditional Gout Medicine in Pongko Village, North Walenrang District, with the criteria of high, medium and low. In this research, several conclusions can be drawn, namely that the people in Pongko Village have a high level of knowledge about the use of traditional medicine in treating gout problems. The level of knowledge of the Pongko Village community was 9 respondents or 18% had a low level of knowledge. A total of 12 respondents or 24% had a medium level of knowledge, and 29 respondents or 58% had a high level of knowledge. These results show that there is an influence of the level of knowledge on the use of traditional gout medicine. It is hoped that more in-depth research will be carried out regarding respondents' knowledge of the properties of traditional medicines which are widely consumed by the public and researchers hope that further research will be carried out regarding how far socio-demographic factors, especially income and economic conditions, influence people's knowledge about traditional medicines.
