Abstract

Traditional medicine is an ingredient or ingredients in the form of plant material, animal material, mineral material, sarian (galenic) preparations, or mixtures of these materials which have been used for generations for treatment, and can be applied in accordance with the norms prevailing in society. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of the use of traditional medicines in the community in the village of Takkalala, Wara Selatan District, Palopo City. Descriptive method with a questionnaire as a data collection medium. Respondents in this study were Takkalala Kelurahan people who met the inclusion criteria. Sampling was done using a purposive sampling method. The results showed that the most traditional drug users in Takkalala were female (72.34%), aged> 41-60 (51.06%), high school education (45.74%), housewives (44.68%), Respondents obtained information about the use of traditional medicine through family (55.31), and felt better after using traditional medicine (95.74%). Soursop leaf (29.78%) is the type most often used in traditional medicine, followed by Turmeric (19.04 %%) and Guava Leaf (15.95%.)
