BSE Knowledge and Attitudes of Midwifery Students Towards Early Detection of Breast Tumors by Breast Self-Examination Behavior at the Health Ministry Polytechnic Makassar

Breast cancer is the leading killer of women both globally and regionally. with 60% of these cases occurring in developing countries, it is sometimes discovered after symptoms appear, and many sufferers of the disease are even asymptomatic. that is the need to increase public awareness in early detection of the disease, regular breast cancer screening is very important, through breast self-examination. Although the etiology is not known with certainty, many risk factors may influence the development of this disease including genetic, hormonal, environmental, sociobiological and physiological factors. Finding breast cancer early and getting advanced cancer treatment are two of the most important strategies for preventing death from breast cancer, because finding it early. Sufficient knowledge and a positive attitude is an important strategy for every woman, especially since she was a teenager, is very important in preventing it. This study aims to identify the knowledge and attitudes of midwifery students towards early detection of breast tumors with BSE, using a Cross Sectional Study survey of 44 subjects drawn by simple random sampling. The results of the study concluded that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and p = 0.002, as well as student attitudes with p = 0.001 <?0.05 towards BSE behavior in early detection of breast tumors. It is recommended that every woman check her own breasts at least once a month in an effort to prevent this disease.
