Relationship Knowledge And Attitude Of Elderly About Prevention Of Osteoporosis In To'pongo Villagem Lamasi District, Luwu Regency Year 2020

ABSTRACK

The increasing number of aging population in Asia raises concerns about the emergence of osteoporosis problems in 2050. One of the causes of the high risk of osteoporosis in Indonesia is the level of knowledge and public attitudes regarding how to prevent osteoporosis which is still low. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of the elderly about osteoporosis prevention in To'pongo Village, Lamasi Luwu District in 2020. The research design used in this study was a cross-sectional analytic correlation, which is a type of research that emphasizes the time of measurement/observation of data. independent and dependent variables were assessed simultaneously at one time. The population in this study were all the elderly in To'pongo Village, Lamasi District, Luwu Regency as many as 53 people. The sample obtained was 53 respondents using the total sampling method. The results showed that on the knowledge variable, the value of the statistical test was p = 0.028 <0.05 so that there was a relationship between elderly knowledge and osteoporosis prevention. While on the attitude variable, the value of the statistical test p = 0.018 <0.05 so that there is a relationship between the attitude of the elderly and the prevention of osteoporosis. So the conclusion is that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes of the elderly with osteoporosis prevention in To'pongo Village, Lamasi District, Luwu Regency in 2020. Therefore, it is hoped that health workers will further optimize health education, especially for the elderly.
