Abstract

ABSTRACT

The world is shocked by the outbreak of a new virus infection, namely the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This virus belongs to the betacoronavirus group, one of its important manifestations is acute respiratory infection (ARI). One way to slow down the process of spreading the virus is to avoid contact with crowds and adhere to health protocols, one of which is to adhere to masks. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between public knowledge and compliance with the use of masks as an effort to prevent covid-19 in To'bulung Village, Bara District, Palopo City. The type of research used is descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was the people in To'bulung Village RT 002/RW 005 who were 18-60 years old. The sampling method was purposive sampling with the number of respondents 50. The results obtained that knowledge with the compliance of the use of masks as an effort to prevent covid-19 with a value of p = (0.003) < 0.005 and x^(2 ) count = 15.331 > x^2 table = 3,841. Which means that there is a relationship between knowledge and compliance with the use of masks as an effort to prevent COVID-19. It is hoped that the relevant sub-districts will hold outreach to the public that it is important to use masks as a way to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 corona virus.
